9 Johnson Brothers plates in the Lotus pattern.

Set of 9 plates in English ironstone produced by the Johnson Brothers factory, decorated with the Lotus pattern, recognisable by its sumptuous cobalt blue floral motif on an ivory background. It consists of 4 dinner plates, 3 soup plates, and 2 dessert plates. The decoration combines a myriad of small stylised flowers, almost graphic, with large shaded flowers treated in reserve, creating a particularly elegant play of depth. The set evokes both Victorian English aesthetics and a floral influence inspired by Asia, very characteristic of Johnson Brothers productions from the mid-20th century. Ironstone earthenware, known for its robustness and whiteness, offers a beautiful shine and excellent durability. The slightly wavy edge adds a touch of softness and highlights the decorative character of the piece. Marked on the reverse “Lotus – Johnson Brothers – Made in England – Ironstone”, this dish is dishwasher safe. In good vintage condition, shiny, with slight discreet signs of age, 1 chip under one of the dessert plates, 1 chip under one of the soup plates, and 1 dinner plate is very worn (see photos). Diameter of the dinner plate is 24.5 cm, diameter of the soup plate is 22 cm, height is 3.5 cm, diameter of the dessert plate is 20 cm. It fits perfectly into a contemporary cottage décor, reimagined English country style, or a vintage contemporary-friendly table. I also have an oval dish and a round dish of the same model in my shop.
