Pair of antique gien plates (one flat and one deep) – green/blue floréal decor – late 19th century. Particularly elegant, in fine earthenware signed gien, “floréal” decor in dark green/blue on an ivory background. The plant motif, very finely detailed, evokes an interlacing of wild roses and foliage in a romantic naturalist spirit typical of the late 19th century. We like: the charm of the “floréal” decor, rarer and more delicate than classic floral motifs, the subtle play of deep green/blue and old crackle, which gives all their soul to these pieces, the timeless quality of the earthenware of gien, emblematic house founded in 1821. Perfect for a vintage table full of character, or as wall decoration for a chic flea market touch. Stamped “opaque porcelain of gien – floréal”. The stamp allows us to date their production between 1880 and 1910. Beautiful old condition, cracks from use and patina of time. Each plate has a chip on the underside not visible when the plate is placed. Diameter: 28 cms, heights: 2 and 2.5 cm.
