Louis XVI music cabinet, marquetry, brass gallery, marble top

Antique music cabinet in Louis XVI style, late 19th to early 20th century, found in the South-West of France. Behind its slatted curtain, tall vertical partitions keep the bound sheet music upright and flat, as required by a music salon of yesteryear. A piece of furniture designed for a single purpose, much rarer than an ordinary display cabinet. Geometric marquetry in chevrons and diamonds, marble top surrounded by an openwork brass gallery, brass ornaments and handles. One drawer, one slatted curtain, and two doors at the lower part. Today it accommodates vinyl records, art books, or a small bar: a treasure of the past for a contemporary interior. Condition: good general condition for its age. The left rear foot is damaged, visible in the photos. Dimensions: width 57 cm, depth 37 cm, height 129 cm. Weight approximately 29 kg.
