This expressive accent lamp is based on an original ceramic fireplace vase by Scheurich - West German pottery - from the 1960s/70s. The clear, massive shape and the soft light brown glaze on a dark brown background make it a typical representative of the German Fat-Lava era. The compact, sculptural form gives the lamp a calm and architectural presence. This vase shape became very popular from the 1960s onwards and was called a "fireplace vase" because the neck resembles a chimney. The lampshade (25 cm in diameter) is covered with high-quality Japanese cotton fabric. The traditional dragon pattern in blue, cream, and subtle shades of red unfolds a particular depth in warm light. Dragons, a popular motif in Japanese mythology, symbolize strength, energy, and protection. The structure of the fabric remains visible, adding a textile warmth to the spatial arrangement. The Eastern-inspired pattern forms an interesting contrast with the reduced West German ceramic shape – it is precisely this interaction that gives the lamp its unique character.
