Here is a very beautiful and large ceramic planter from Italy, known as majolica on the other side of the Alps. It has a lovely flared shape on a foot with a high wavy rim. The decoration has been entirely hand-painted, featuring chimeras and yellow and white floral patterns on a black background, enhanced with gold fillets. It is signed underneath, "AR Italy, " which, according to enthusiasts of Italian ceramics, would be the signature of Alberto Rubboli, who took over the family workshop established in 1920 (SCU, Societa Ceramica Umbria) in Gualdo Tadino. This ceramic would therefore date from between 1936 and 1975. The pot is in generally good condition, with no cracks or chips, but there is a small chip on the edge of its base that seems to have been camouflaged with a bit of gold paint, fortunately not very visible given its location. This planter measures 19.5 cm in height, 24 cm in diameter at the top, and 12 cm in diameter at the base.
