Iznik ceramics emerged during the Ottoman Empire at the end of the 15th century in Turkey, in the city of the same name. Coating ceramics, tiles, and ornaments appeared in the 16th century under the influence of the sultans of the Empire. This ceramic then became a symbol of luxury and prestige in European courts.
