Animated Landscape with Mules and Figures near a River, oil on panel by Ed Doigneau, a painting that showcases this painter's unique skill, capturing light, particularly in the mules' coats and the foliage of the trees. Ed Doigneau was born in Nemours (Seine-et-Marne) on September 27, 1865, into a bourgeois family. Initially destined for a military career via the École Polytechnique (class of 1885), he abandoned this path in 1900 to devote himself to painting. He studied under the painters Jules Lefebvre and Tony Robert-Fleury at the Académie Julian in Paris. It is exhibited in numerous museums in the provinces and in Paris. Oil on wood signed lower right, note a small loss to the frame in the upper left corner.
