Scandinavian Wooden Candleholders, Set of 6

A decorative set of six vintage wooden candleholders, designed in the style of mid-20th-century Scandinavian design. All were crafted using the wood-turning technique, which gave them their distinctive, smoothly contoured shapes. The variety of forms—ranging from slender, spindle-like shapes to more substantial ones based on spherical and ring-shaped divisions—creates a very interesting, sculptural composition. Turned wooden candleholders of this type are a distinctive element of Scandinavian decorative design from the 1960s and 1970s.  Each of the six elements has a uniquely designed form, yet the common motif remains the rhythm of narrowings, curves, rollers, and geometric profiles. The tallest candlestick, with its slender shaft, is particularly striking, while the others form a group around it that varies in height and proportions. The warm hues of natural wood—ranging from light honey and golden brown to deeper, caramel tones—highlight the grain pattern and the character of the handcrafted finish. The visible variations in color and grain among individual pieces add to the set’s authenticity and ensure that each candleholder retains its own unique character. Natural wood and turned forms are particularly prized in Scandinavian vintage pieces, where decorative appeal stems primarily from the quality of the material and the proportions. The set has a distinctly sculptural character—when arranged together, the candleholders resemble a small collection of geometric wooden forms. The height of the candlesticks varies from 24.5 cm to 16.5 cm - the diameter of the base about 6 cm - 8.5 cm.
