Alvar Aalto Model 26 Armchair for Artek Finland 1932/2015

Rare Model 26 armchair, designed by the great architect and designer Alvar Aalto in 1932. In the 1930s this model was only produced very briefly, about 60 chairs were produced. Therefore these early editions are sought after museum pieces. This particular chair was produced in 2015 in honor of the 80th anniversary of Artek. The chair is marked and numbered underneath the seat: '80 years Artek 1935-2015' and number 3426. It was a limited production run and is out of production nowadays. The chair has a black lacquered birch plywood seat/backrest and a black tubular steel frame. Unusual for Aalto to use a steel frame, but it looks quite nice. A beautiful detail are the direct cut-out armrests. The chair is in excellent condition. Only minimal traces of use.
