Military commode Howard & Son 1881 by Sir C Pigott

We are delighted to offer for sale this extremely rare, very large chest of drawers, signed Howard & Son, stamped 1881, in burr walnut & burl, with a military history. This is probably the finest quality chest of drawers I have ever had in my hands; they are heavy, the walnut cuts have a deep and rich grain that simply shines under the right light, the quality is exquisite. The top right drawer inside is stamped Howard & Son’s Berners Street, with remnants of a paper label bearing the serial number 8696 4332 and the mention "Easy Chair & Sofa Factory, Howard & Son’s Upholsterers 2526 & 27 Berners Street London Patent dining table". The true pièce de résistance is found on the back of the drawers, where the original nameplate of the owner who commissioned them, Sir C Pigott, dated 12 September 1881, is displayed, along with a detailed military history. The condition is very good with a light patina but generally in good shape. Dimensions: Height 49 cm, Width 115.5 cm, Depth 51 cm.
