Rare chair and matching stool by Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet, France 1950s.
A chair and a matching stool, original and full of character, signed by Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet (France, 1950s). These two pieces combine robust structures in dark-stained wood with thick circular seats woven from natural fibers. The contrast between the almost primitive construction of the frames and the richness of the texture of the woven seats is characteristic of the material language present in Audoux and Minet's work during this period. The low chair is particularly remarkable. Two strongly inclined front legs support the woven circular seat, while a single elongated rear element extends into a slightly curved backrest. A simple opening near the top adds a distinctive graphic touch. The matching tripod stool features the same combination of dark wood, flared legs, and tightly woven seat, creating a set of remarkable harmony. Both pieces have acquired a deep patina, with visible signs of wear and irregularities on the wooden surfaces, as well as natural variations in the weaving. These traces of time enhance their rustic and sculptural character. A particularly appealing French set from the mid-20th century, combining modernist simplicity with vernacular construction and natural materials. Sold as a set of two pieces.
