Biedermeier secretary in mahogany, 1840

Biedermeier antique secretary from around 1840, veneered in mahogany. This piece, made in the Biedermeier style from softwood veneered in mahogany, dates from approximately 1840. Its monumental design, reminiscent of architectural structures, suggests origins from a German workshop. The secretary includes three drawers, a drop-down flap that aligns with the rest of the piece, and a narrow drawer at the bottom. It is crowned with a cornice and flanked by Corinthian columns. Inside, a panel conceals small drawers and a cabinet with fronts adorned with stringing. The piece has been renovated and finished with shellac varnish, although some surface irregularities are visible on one of the doors.
