This mahogany secretary dating from the Louis XVI period is crowned with a black marble from Louverné with a projection, surrounded by a pierced brass gallery that highlights the finesse of the whole and discreetly captures the light. The belt opens to a drawer rhythmically adorned with half-round brass rods, featuring its functional lock and original drop handles. Just below, the framed flap, decorated with a panel featuring a brass-inlaid recess, reveals a perfectly operational period lock. The interior is a small theatre of elegance: a new fir green leather, embossed with a central motif and a gilded vignette, welcomes writing. Above, six drawers with brass knobs and a central shelf structure the space into two symmetrical niches, ideal for organising correspondence and small precious items. The lower part maintains the same refined spirit: a double door opens to a shelf and an internal drawer, equipped with its key and functional lock, offering discreet and generous storage. The half-column fluted uprights, finished with spindle feet topped with a collar and shod with brass sabot, anchor the piece in the pure Louis XVI tradition: balance, verticality, and controlled sobriety. This secretary from the late 18th century is a harmonious and authentic period piece, where every detail tells the craftsmanship of the workshops of the time. A piece that is both practical and highly decorative, ready to reclaim its place in an interior that appreciates the beauty of lines and the quality of materials. Period: Late 18th century. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop. Waxed finish.
