Antique Biedermeier Secretary with Mahogany, 1840

Antique Biedermeier Secretary circa 1840, veneered with mahogany. This piece, crafted in the Biedermeier style from softwood veneered with mahogany, dates back to around 1840. Its monumental design, reminiscent of architectural structures, suggests origins from a German workshop. The secretary includes three drawers, a fold-down top that aligns with the rest of the piece, and one narrow bottom drawer. It is crowned with a cornice and flanked by Corinthian columns. Inside, a panel conceals small drawers and a cabinet with fronts adorned with fillet strips. The piece has been renovated and finished with shellac polish, although some surface irregularities are visible on one of the doors.
