Magnificent Louis-Philippe commode from the period (circa 1850), in walnut burl, opening with 4 drawers including a hidden drawer with a curved front in the waist. The wood features a spectacular, perfectly symmetrical grain, showcasing refined cabinetmaking craftsmanship. Top in pink marble veined with white, moulded all around in an elegant shape known as "pair of buttocks". Original lock entries (fil model), later key. The drawers are dovetail jointed, a solid and traditional assembly. Turned feet, solid wood structure, posts with tenons and mortises. Commode found in a residence in the Loire Valley. Original patina, no restoration work, interior cleaned. A piece full of character, stable and authentic, ideal for a bedroom or a chic classic-style living room.
