Jules-Augustin Chassin (Moulins-en-Tonnerrois 1850 - Villeneuve-sur-Yonne 1914) Portrait of a man. 1889. Terracotta. 39 cm. Dated and signed: 1889 / J. CHASSIN Born in Moulins-en-Tonnerrois in 1850, Jules-Augustin Chassin was a renowned doctor and pharmacist (in 1877, he published the book "Syntheses of Pharmacy and Chemistry"). Passionate about the arts, later in life, he became a sculptor. A student of Raoul Larche, Chassin regularly participated in the Salon of the 1890s.
