We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent French Empire-style chest of drawers, dating from around 1860, made of solid mahogany with a marble top and hairy lion paw feet painted in gold leaf. A very aesthetic, well-crafted, and decorative piece of furniture. The wood's patina is rich and beautiful in all light, and the good-coloured marble top adds a sense of grandeur, typical of fine French furniture. The hairy lion paw feet are painted in gold leaf, and the handles are Regency style with lion heads. The piece has been cleaned, waxed, and polished from top to bottom, showing some light patina marks due to age and honest use, with the side panels having ripples in the veneer.
