Oil painting on canvas XVIII Virgin and Child

Free interpretation from the 18th century of the Virgin with the grape according to Pierre Mignard (1612-1695). The original by Mignard is preserved at the Louvre Museum (collection of Louis XIV). This is not a reproduction of the original work but rather an original piece inspired by the Virgin with the grape. The composition is reversed compared to Mignard's original work (mirror reflection). The major elements of the composition (derived from Raphael-like models) are present: the Virgin with the Child in the same posture and similar gestures, the bunch of grapes (alluding to the blood and sacrifice of Christ), the table and its basket of fruits... But the drapery, the environment (in a cloud of clouds), the colour of the grape, the Virgin's veil, the basket of fruits, the absent chair back, etc., differ. The solid frame is original with an old mounting and rear reinforcements at the corners, a patch on the back of the canvas. The canvas would need to be re-stretched and cleaned, with a tiny hole the size of a pinhead, detachment, loss of pictorial material at the bottom of the painting, cracks in the paint layer, the frame is in perfect condition, everything is visible in the photos. Width: 59 cm with the frame, 42 cm without the frame. Height: 71.5 cm with the frame, 55.3 cm without the frame. Thickness: 7.5 cm with the frame. From the front, the canvas measures 40.5 X 53 cm.
