Vintage Dutch Decora or Z table lamp by Louis Kalff for Philips, 1956

The Decora desk lamp was designed by Louis Kalff in 1956 and is also known as the Z-lamp. This Dutch design was manufactured by Philips in the 1950s. Louis Kalff was inspired by the 'Evoluon', a UFO-shaped building in Eindhoven, the city of light in the Netherlands. The lamp is in very good, original condition. It features a solid brass base and an iron shade with small openings around it, providing excellent lighting. Over several decades, Dutch designer Louis Kalff created many famous designs for Philips, and these Z lamps are considered among his best work. Notable features include the opening at the top of the lamp shade and the smaller openings all over the shade, allowing the top of the light bulb to show through and creating beautiful light effects.
