Krakow goblet from the 1970s, attributed to Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz, was created at the Glass Institute in Krakow using the characteristic crushed glass technique of that era. The entire piece is made of glass in an intense, saturated shade of red with an orange tint, featuring a semi-transparent structure that allows light to pass through and create a glowing effect. The glossy surface emphasizes the depth of colour and highlights small waves and air bubbles, typical of hand-blown glass. The goblet's form fits the mid-century modern aesthetic: a cylindrical bowl transitions into a wide, flared stem adorned with two decorative, hand-formed glass loops. The condition is very good – no chips or cracks, only minor signs of age. This goblet tells the story of the 1970s, when Polish art glass combined colour expression with a pursuit of craftsmanship perfection. The stream of light passing through the semi-transparent red recalls the modernist fascination with light and colour, while the hand-made loops at the stem are like the artist's signature – a gesture emphasizing the object's individuality. Although functional, the goblet becomes an expression of creative experimentation and a trace of an era where form and function intertwined.
