Chaleyssin / 19** A very interesting sculptor from Lyon active in the 1920s and 1930s, Rose Chaleyssin regularly exhibited at the Salon d'Automne. In 1923, the City of Lyon purchased a terracotta representing a seated woman, while in 1924, a study for a fountain was included in the Salon catalogue. Her father, Francisque Chaleyssin, a cabinetmaker and decorator, was the head of the Chaleyssin company, a major furniture manufacturer in Lyon. Her husband, André Ducaroy, was a prominent designer of contemporary furniture. This child's sculpture in bas-relief is of great delicacy.
