This beautiful shaped pair of Kirsten lounge chairs was designed by A. Madsen and H. Schubell and produced by Bovenkamp, The Netherlands, circa 1960. A refined example of Dutch mid-century modern design, the chairs combine sculptural form with exceptional comfort. The organically shaped frames are crafted from solid oak, complemented by beautifully curved teak armrests that add warmth and contrast. The flowing lines and balanced proportions reflect the designers’ strong focus on ergonomics and craftsmanship. The seats and backrests have been newly upholstered in a high-quality fabric by De Ploeg, offering a subtle texture that harmonizes with the natural tones of the wood. Both chairs are fitted with original head cushions, enhancing comfort and visual coherence. In very good vintage condition, the oak frames and teak armrests show a pleasing patina consistent with age and careful use, while the upholstery is fresh and pristine. Both chairs are marked with a manufacturer’s stamp. Sculptural yet inviting, this rare pair is an excellent addition to mid-century, Scandinavian, or modern interiors.
