This superb Louis XVI mahogany and speckled mahogany display cabinet is distinguished by its meticulous craftsmanship and rich bronze ornamentation. The upper part of the cabinet is composed of two glass doors in speckled mahogany, framed with brass rods and adorned with chiseled bronze ribboned entrances. The lock is functional and comes with its key. The interior is equipped with two adjustable shelves on racks. The molded cornice, with graduated molding, features projecting corners and is enhanced by an openwork brass gallery. The half-round uprights with stopped fluting clad in brass elegantly frame the doors. They are decorated with bronze asparagus arranged overhead. The upper crosspiece of the cabinet is enriched with a finely chiseled bronze frieze depicting flowers, foliage, and ribbons. The lower part of the piece of furniture, projecting, is topped with a brass gallery. It conceals, beneath a drawer fitted with two drop handles, an ingenious sliding compartment. This reveals a writing desk covered in new green leather, adorned with a gilded vignette and a delicate central motif. At the back, two small drawers and a niche provide discreet and practical storage space. Two solid, lockable doors open onto an interior layout consisting of seven drawers and upper niches. The sides of this lower part also feature projecting uprights, adorned with attached columns with stopped fluting, also decorated with bronze asparagus. A chiseled plaque adorns the upper part of each half-round upright. The whole rests on four spinning top legs, adorned with brass collars and shoes, ensuring stability and refinement. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop. Waxed finish. Ref: 020725.2.
