Bevelled bronze mirror, Second Empire 19th century, Louis XV style.

Splendid antique mirror in bronze dating from the Second Empire, 19th century. Rich Louis XV rocaille decoration, adorned with a wonderful radiant juvenile mask dominating the pediment, surrounded by acanthus scrolls, volutes, and floral motifs. The composition, very theatrical, the finesse of the chiselling, and the depth of the reliefs testify to remarkable craftsmanship by the bronzier. The reliefs, subtly polished and patinated by time, harmoniously contrast with the darker recesses and give the whole a remarkable presence. The mirror is enhanced with a bevelled glass. The reverse is old and complete. Very good overall condition of preservation. The bronze frame has a beautiful old patina, with no breaks or notable losses.
