Pair of large vintage Mercurio d'Oro bookends

Vintage pair of bookends. Mercurio d'Oro, made in Italy, depicting Atlas kneeling and supporting a globe. The sculptures feature a bronze patina finish with golden and brown hues, combined with richly detailed cartographic globes and dark wooden bases. The original Mercurio d'Oro label is preserved. A decorative set full of character, ideal for a library, office, or curiosity cabinet. Both Atlases have a beautiful bronze patina finish and each supports a richly decorated globe, in old brown, green, and golden tones. The globes are adorned with very detailed cartography featuring lines of latitude and longitude. The bookends rest on solid dark wooden bases, providing them with excellent stability. The two Atlases are made of composite material, resin, alloy, or zamac, but the finish closely resembles bronze with a patina nuanced by the years. There is a presence of discreet natural wear on the wood and the globes, consistent with their age. Weight 2.210kg.
