Napoleon III Terrestrial Globe - G. Thomas Paris - 1880 - 40 cm. Magnificent and authentic late 19th-century cabinet terrestrial globe (Napoleon III period), published by the prestigious G. Thomas company. The cartouche states: "Terrestrial Globe - G. Thomas, Publisher - 44, Rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs, Paris". G. Thomas was the successor to the famous Delamarche company, a global reference in cartography at that time. * Dimensions: Total height 40 cm|Globe diameter approx. 20 cm. * Elegant turned blackened wooden baluster base, with a functional rotation axis. * Globe made of paper gores. It features the colonial outlines of the time, major explorations, and underwater telegraph lines. Condition: Good overall condition for an object over 140 years old. The item has a superb patina that gives it character. Note some normal signs of use (slight wear and small paper losses visible in the photos, particularly near the poles), which guarantees its authenticity "in its original state". Perfect for enriching a cabinet of curiosities, decorating a prestigious office, or for a collector of antique globes. It is a piece of great decorative finesse.
