'Favela' Chair, designed by Fernando & Humberto Campana in 1991. Edra started the production of this chair in 2003. This particular chair is an early production from 2004. The Favela Chair, named after the makeshift communities in Brazil, is crafted from pieces of scrap pine wood, meticulously assembled to create a piece that is both rugged and refined. The chair doesn't have an internal structure, it's strength comes from the interconnectedness of the wood pieces. Every chair is handmade and not one is the same. A true piece of art. This chair is more than just a seating option; it's a narrative of resilience, creativity, and the beauty of imperfection. Through this piece, the Campana Brothers challenge traditional design norms and invite us to see the potential for beauty in the most unlikely places. The duo’s unique style is distinguished by a disruptive language translating their out-of-the-box thinking into concrete objects forever true to their Brazilian identity. At the center of their reflections lie materials, colors, and a great sense of freedom, giving life to poetic objects capable of recounting an imaginary of stories both familiar and exotic. This amazing chair is part of the collection of various museums worldwide, like the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and The Met in New York among others. The chair is in excellent condition. It is never used.
