Geometric design armchair "Zig Zag", created by Gérard Coquelin, purchased new from a gallery in 2008 (first hand). The Zig Zag armchair (created around 1990) is a sought-after collector's item in the design market. At the same time, it offers very good seating comfort. Gérard Coquelin handcrafted each piece in his workshop. Although no official figures or strict numbering (like a fixed edition of 50 or 100) have been communicated for this specific model, the total number of pieces available on the market remains very limited. The model has mainly been produced in two major colours: black and red. Born in 1947, Gérard Coquelin is a French wrought iron artist and plastician. Based in his workshop "Fer Ailleurs" in Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort, he has been creating contemporary furniture since 1980, straddling the line between functional objects and sculpture. A master of welding, his style is characterised by the work of cut, hammered, and bent sheets and rods of steel. Through his collections, he seeks to infuse humour, poetry, and a constant play on transparency, voids, and solids. Gérard Coquelin has ceased production activities. His iconic works, such as the Zig Zag armchair, are no longer manufactured and have become part of the history of 20th-century French design. Today, they are no longer published and can only be purchased on the art market, in second-hand design, and from specialised galleries. Material: Black lacquered metal. Dimensions of the piece: • Maximum width: 108 cm. • Total height: approximately 85 cm. • Depth: 64 cm. Weight: approximately 15 kg. To be collected in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
