Derk Jan de Vries "Samara" Arm Chairs for Maisa Di Seveso Milano

Pair of arm chairs by Derk Jan de Fries, Derk Jan de Fries was a Dutch designer who emigrated to Italy. Very little biographical information about the designer is known today. He worked for the Italian manufacturer Maisa Di Seveso Milano. His "Samara" series, developed in 1977, is his most famous work. Characteristic of this meticulously detailed design are the elegant and beautifully shaped corners. The pieces are made entirely of solid ash wood and covered with Viennese cane webbing. Nice clean lines. Not signed but well documented in designer books.
