Antique silver-plated tea service in four pieces made in Sheffield, England in the 1930s. Of simple shape, resting on four claw feet, all with an egg and bead edge, the teapot and water jug with wooden handle and knob. The silver plating denotes the method invented in the city of Sheffield around 1743 by the silversmith Thomas Boulsover. Items made from metal obtained by hot rolling sheets of silver onto copper. This process fell out of use with the adoption of the silver-plating system (silver plating of the base metal obtained by galvanic bath) from 1850. This process was commonly referred to as silver plating. All items in this vintage tea service bear the original manufacturer's label. Very good vintage condition.
