Rare Reed & Barton - "Hampton Court Shield 663" Solid Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl & Creamer - High-End American Silversmith Masterpiece - 790 g - ca. 1960. An exceptional and heavy solid sterling silver (925/1000) tea/coffee service set consisting of a sugar bowl with its original lid and a matching creamer. This set belongs to the prestigious "Hampton Court Shield" collection (Model #663) by the world-renowned American silversmith Reed & Barton (Taunton, Massachusetts). Historical & Artistic Value: Introduced in the mid-20th century, the Hampton Court Shield pattern is a masterpiece of Neo-Georgian design. It features elegant, clean-lined baluster bodies, exquisite handle curves, and a prominent blank central shield (cartouche) designed for custom engraving. Unlike common flatware, these heavy hollowware pieces represent the pinnacle of American mid-century luxury. Finding an authentic, non-monogrammed Reed & Barton set in Europe is highly uncommon, making this a rare opportunity for discerning international collectors. Dimensions: Sugar Bowl; 16 X 20 X 12 cm/ 503.10 g. Creamer: 12.5 X 14 X 9.5 cm/ 287.20 g. CODE 23. Excellent vintage condition with a beautiful, deep natural patina that accentuates the luxury craftsmanship. No major dents, no deep scratches, and absolutely no repairs. The interior gilding/gilt wash is beautifully preserved. The central shields are completely blank (no monograms), which drastically increases its collectible value.
