This display cabinet from the Napoléon III period, made of blackened pear wood, stands out for its theatrical architecture and the finesse of its decoration. The upper part rises elegantly through an arch that houses a large central mirror, supported by slender detached columns and topped with a delicately moulded cornice. Below, the upper belt is animated by an open mirrored niche, rhythmically adorned with small neo-Renaissance arcades that create a subtle play of depth. The lower part forms a side cabinet equipped with a drawer complete with its key and a solid door that opens to reveal a functional storage space fitted with two internal shelves. This central panel is beautifully highlighted by an octagonal medallion in marquetry depicting Diana the Huntress, framed by rich scrollwork, leafy arabesques, and geometric patterns that contrast superbly with the depth of the blackened wood. A perfect alliance of the opulence of the Second Empire and architectural rigor, this exceptional piece of furniture stands as an ideal centrepiece to enhance a collector's interior.
