Napoleon III display cabinet in blackened wood with gilded highlights – 19th century. Elegant display cabinet from the Napoleon III period, made of blackened wood and adorned with delicate gilded highlights. The lower part, slightly curved at the front, opens with two glass doors allowing for the display of collectibles, porcelain, or glassware. The interior is fitted with a shelf. The upper part forms an elegant two-tiered shelf, particularly decorative. It is accentuated by a succession of fine turned and pierced columns, framed by sculpted uprights with volutes. The crown, richly cut, is centred with a significant stylised shell motif, surrounded by scrolls. The whole is highlighted with beaded fillets, foliage, and gilded ornaments, creating a beautiful contrast with the depth of the blackened wood. A piece that is both decorative and functional, typical of the historicist taste of the second half of the 19th century, ideal as a display cabinet, occasional furniture, or showcase in a classic interior.
