Handcrafted from a 19th-century Italian albarello (circa 1870–1885) in Renaissance style, this unique table lamp preserves the spirit of the great European apothecary traditions. The ceramic vessel once served as a pharmacy pot, featuring a painted cartouche of the bearded profile of a classical physician, most likely Andromachus, with the inscription "E THER: ANDR.S"—an abbreviation for Electuarium Theriacae Andromachi Senioris. Above the inscription are two golden symbols in the shape of Greek Psi (Ψ) and Epsilon (ϵ), presumably workshop or guild marks. The lamp is paired with a custom drum shade, made in a workshop near Amsterdam from ochre dupion silk, chosen to echo the golden tones of the pot. The conversion has been carried out without altering or damaging the antique vessel. The lamp is fully wired for use in the United States. The stated height includes the shade. Ideal for a library, office, or living room, and an excellent gift for a doctor, pharmacist, medical history collector, or wunderkammer enthusiast.
