Modernist armchair by F. CARUELLE

Convertible armchair/chaise longue by François Caruelle. France, circa 1950 / Modernist style. Aluminum and stainless steel frame, beech armrests, reversible burgundy/tartan vinyl seat. The metal frame is in perfect condition, entirely original. The vinyl is also in perfect condition, with no tears, marks, scratches, or other damage. The three cushions remain very comfortable; they are neither compressed nor flattened. The vents are present on all three cushions, and the backrest attachment brackets are fully functional. The fabric/tartan section is partially faded by the sun but shows no wear, tears, etc. The diamond-shaped stamp often affixed to the backrest is missing (the armchair has always been very well cared for; the label did not withstand repeated use of cloths and metal cleaning products). An icon of post-war French design in perfect condition despite being almost 75 years old!
