Vintage Design. The Saturn is a classic design by the Danish manufacturer Fog & Mørup based on a concept by Jo Hammerborg from around 1950. Here is an early version produced between 1957 and 1963. It features a very simple and symmetrical design. The contrast between the copper and the matte black is particularly striking. The lamp body in copper colour has a wide dimming ring or reflector in the middle. The ring directs light outward from the lamp body and allows the copper to shine. This piece directs light upwards and downwards, which is then diffused by a fluted diffuser disc. The interior of the slats and bars is coloured orange and is not visible in the copper of the lamp. A special detail is the brass socket through which the textile cable enters the lamp, a clever solution to a common problem that does justice to the high quality and materiality of the entire lamp. This detail identifies this example as an early version up to 1963. Later, this socket was made in black.
