We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent mid-Victorian apothecary or haberdashery cabinet, extremely rare and original. This cabinet is a rarity, a very rare survivor, highly sought after, with all the original water glass and thick glass shelves. The shelf supports are removable and fully height adjustable, also glazed on the sides to allow light to enter from all angles. It would make the coolest display cabinet in the world or a very decorative bookcase. It naturally divides into two very easy-to-transport pieces, and it is very heavy as the glass is exceptionally thick. We have cleaned, waxed, and polished it, and the glass has been cleaned with a razor. There are a few rough edges on the glass shelves, chips, and some curved sections at the back appear to have been roughly cut on purpose, although I do not know why. I can safely have them polished or replaced if the new owner wishes at cost price; however, I have left them as they are because they are original and perfectly fine. Something is only original once. Dimensions: Height 230.5 cm, top part 154 cm, base 77.5 cm, width 132.5 cm, depth 37.5 cm. Please refer to the very detailed images that are part of the description regarding the condition. Please note that vintage and original items such as leather seating will always show a natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear. We recommend regular waxing to prevent moisture loss, as hand-dyed leather is not recommended for prolonged exposure to direct sunlight as it dries out and discolours.
