Rare adjustable lounge chair manufactured by Móveis Gerdau in Porto Alegre, Brazil, circa 1950. The chair is constructed from bentwood and laminated wood and features elegant curved lines characteristic of Gerdau’s production. The backrest can be adjusted to different positions, and the integrated footrest folds forward, transforming the upright armchair into an extended reclining chair. The use of laminated wooden panels for the seat, backrest, and footrest is particularly notable. The sweeping bentwood armrests form a continuous line around the sides of the chair, giving it a distinctive profile. Its functional construction and organic forms place it within the development of Brazilian furniture design around the mid-20th century. The chair retains its original Móveis Gerdau / Walter Gerdau manufacturer’s label from Porto Alegre. Height 90 cm X Depth 100 cm X Width 63 cm. Seat height: 30 cm. Presented in original vintage condition with visible wear, scratches, colour variations, and patina consistent with age and use. These traces have been preserved as part of the chair’s history and character.
