Ceiling lamp featuring a circular shade composed of concentric bent Swedish pine bands. Scandinavian production, 1960s. Pendant lamp crafted from Swedish pine, featuring a circular shade with a broad, low profile, constructed from thin bent wooden slats arranged in overlapping concentric bands. The structure develops into a wide, enveloping volume that allows light to filter gently through the spaces between the wooden elements, producing a soft, diffused illumination. The emphasis on continuous horizontal lines reflects a recurring theme in Scandinavian lighting of the 1960s, when bent wood became a defining material thanks to its ability to combine structural quality with refined formal research. Swedish pine, belonging to the species Pinus sylvestris, was particularly valued for its flexibility, light weight and distinctive grain, qualities that made it especially suitable for the production of thin curved elements. Its aesthetic is reminiscent of the design language explored by figures such as Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen and Werner Schou, among the leading protagonists of post-war Scandinavian lighting. The pendant is fitted with a black electrical cord. Good condition. It may show signs of age. Please pay close attention to the photographs. AG323
