Painted Folk Art Bridal Cupboard

Very decorative bridal cabinet dating back to around 1840, the date can still be read on the doors, only the last number is missing. The cabinet has the original paint and has a very rustic look. This copy is painted in mainly dark green tones and is beautifully decorated with flowers on the panels. The cabinet has the original layout on the inside, consisting of a shelf and oak coat hooks. If desired, more shelves can easily be added. The whole is in a slightly used / restored condition. For example, some small moldings and the legs have been replaced at some point. The dark green paint has also worn off in a characteristic way over the years. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. These pieces of furniture were later placed in a state room on the farm that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This copy comes from southern Germany. The cabinet is screwed down but can easily be dismantled into two parts. 190cm high, 155cm wide, 60cm deep.
