Antique beech shepherd's chest, 1850s

Beautiful appearance and proportions for this small low shepherd's chest. These chests were made in the same way for centuries. They were decorated with traditional magical symbols. This example shows this geometric decoration very well. Reduced to a natural finish. Raw, authentic. From the mountains of Transylvania around the middle of the 19th century. The chest is made of beech wood and assembled with wooden pegs.
