Iconic pair of bauhaus armchairs, model b3 also called wassily by marcel breuer. Structure in chrome tubular steel and thick leather stitched white saddler. It is one of the most well-known bauhaus chairs and completely timeless. There have been several editions of this emblematic chair: first a single license per tuna from 1920 to 1962 (very rare), then knoll international then gavina and fasem but the qualities and prices differ... Our edition is old (between 1960 and 1980), we attribute gavina as publisher for its thick and qualitative leather, its dimensions, the quality of steel and allen screws. The steel structures were slightly stitched and the leathers stained. They have since been completely restored by a restorer specializing in leather and upholstery. In good condition, cleaned leather treated and tinted, polished steel. Leather and chrome in good condition. Biography: marcel lajos breuer, born in 1902 in Hungary and died on July 1, 1981 in New York, is a renowned architect and furniture designer, father of modernism with modular constructions and simple forms. A graduate of the Bauhaus in Weimar, Germany, he spent a year in Paris in an architectural firm and then became a professor, combining art and technology. During the Bauhaus period, he created the "b3 chair" better known as the wassily chair, the first chair made of folded steel tubes created in 1925 for wassily kandinsky, inspired in part by a bicycle handlebar. Still in production, the chair can be assembled and dismantled more easily with bicycle tools.
