Magnificent salt-glazed stoneware jug in German style, made by the prestigious Johann Peter Wick-Werke (J.W.R.) at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century (around 1890-1920), in the Westerwald region of Germany. This jug features a neo-Renaissance decoration with very detailed reliefs depicting mythological scenes of bacchanals or aquatic figures (tritons and nymphs). A detail of the anthropomorphic handle represents a male figure (perhaps a triton or a satyr) whose form curves towards the edge. A mask adorns the spout, representing the face of a bearded man (personifying the wind or a river god). The body is decorated with friezes of scales and plant motifs. Material: High-quality salt-glazed stoneware with cobalt glaze (grey and blue), typical of the Westerwald tradition. Excellent condition, with no cracks or visible damage to the relief. The stamp "J.W.R." inscribed in a rectangle with rounded corners is characteristic of the Wick-Werke production from the golden age of German historicism. The number "55" corresponds to the model or design number of the mould. Dimensions: 20 cm wide X 34 cm high X 15 cm in diameter. As these are antique objects, they may show signs of wear. The photographs are an integral part of the description and condition of the item. *Orders will be sent to the nearest collection point; if not possible, they will be delivered to your home.
