Antique German STONEWARE PITCHER from WESTERLAND, Germany, Medallion Decor 35 cm. 19th century. Superb pitcher or ewer on pedestal in Westerland stoneware. Very elaborate decoration with subtle details sculpted in relief. On each side a central medallion type decoration. One is in stoneware and represents a scene and the other is in metal, iron and presents a profile of a man, bas-relief, unidentified. The contours of the pitcher are decorated with skillfully made lion heads. Below the spout, a creature's head, a therianthrope. Height: 35 cm Width: 19 cm Diameter base foot: 12.8 cm Weight: 2245 grams Color: Blue / Grayish blue A repair has been made on the handle (the handle has been glued back on the ends and in the middle, see highlighting on photo n° 11). The rest of the vase's structure is in good condition and has no weaknesses or impacts. Very beautiful appearance, goldsmith work has been carried out on this pitcher.
