Molded plastic Clam box designed by Alan Fletcher in the late 1960s, produced by Mebel in Italy. Made up of two identical shells that fit together using a notched system, this box combines simple lines with a pop aesthetic. The red and white contrast emphasizes its playful, symmetrical shape, directly inspired by Edam cheese. Signed under the base: "Mebel, Italy, des. A. Fletcher." Italy, circa 1970. Bibliography: Charlotte & Peter Fiell, 60's decorative arts, Taschen, Koln, 2001, p. 10.
