Pair of Clam Boxes by Alan Fletcher, Mebel, circa 1970

Pair of Clam Boxes designed by Alan Fletcher in the late 1960s, produced by Mebel in Italy. Made of molded plastic, these two identical boxes are assembled using a simple and effective notched system. The black and white contrast accentuates their organic form and highlights their graphic dimension. Somewhere between a utilitarian object and a miniature sculpture, they embody the spirit of pop design applied to everyday uses. Signed under the base: "Mebel, Italy, des. A. Fletcher."
