Beautiful septarian nodule cross-section on a metal stand. Septarian nodules are fossilised mud bubbles and are about 50 to 70 million years old. An important site for these objects is Belgium. Scientists do not agree on how the shape inside was formed. One possibility is the expansion/contraction of the spheres due to gas inside that cannot escape. This specimen is relatively small in size. Dimensions: 41H X 32W X 11D. Object itself: 35H.
