Septaria on custom stand

Beautiful Septaria nodule cross-section on a metal stand. Septaria nodules are fossilised mud bubbles and are about 50 to 70 million years old. An important location for these objects is Belgium. Scientists do not agree on how the shape inside was formed. One possibility is the expansion/contraction of the spheres due to gas inside that cannot escape. This specimen is large and special because of the presence of pyrite between the cracks! Dimensions: 54H X 41L X 12D. Septaria itself: 46H X 35W.
