6 vintage majolica oyster plates, Arfilox, 1970

Six mid-century oyster or seafood plates, made by Orfinox around 1970. Mustard yellow earthenware with six oyster-shell shaped wells for holding oyster, clam, or mussel meat, and a central well shaped like a lemon. The wells are separated by a raised seaweed motif, glazed in green. The plate has a free edge and a raised foot on the underside. The style is typical of modern earthenware produced in France between 1950 and 1970. Diameter: 24 cm.
