Art Deco velvet armchair, France, 1930s

This armchair was designed and produced in France in the 1930s. The style of this piece combines geometric rigor and clean lines with a high-quality yellow velvet upholstery. The bold flat wood trim framing the armrests is a signature feature of the Art Deco period of the late 1920s and 1930s. The deep, structured seat profile with a slightly inclined backrest is typical of the popular French club chairs from this golden era of furniture design. This armchair has been completely reupholstered in 'Almobis' natural cotton velvet, made in Italy. The frame and springs have been checked, and the foam renewed if necessary. In excellent condition.
